David Cook To Release 'This Loud Morning' Album in June
Former "American Idol" champ David Cook has set a summer date for the follow-up to his 2008 self-titled debut. The singer will issue his sophomore album, "This Loud Morning," on June 28 through 19 Recordings/RCA Records.
"This album is the culmination of one of the loftiest endeavors I've ever undertaken," says Cook in a statement. "The end result is an album that I cannot wait to share with everyone."
"This Loud Morning" was executive produced by Matt Serletic (Matchbox Twenty, Taylor Hicks) and features collaborations with songwriters like Ryan Tedder, David Hodges and Marti Fredericksen. The full-length's first single, "The Last Goodbye," will first be performed live when Cook returns to the "American Idol" stage for the elimination episode next Thursday (Apr. 21). The track will be digitally released on Apr. 19, and fans will receive the track for free when they pre-order "Morning" on Cook's official website.
Singles like "Time of my Life" and "Light On" helped push "David Cook" to sales of 1.3 million when it was released in November 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Three years after trumping David Archuleta for the "Idol" crown, Cook remade the 1985 Simple Minds hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)" as the farewell song for season 10 of the show.
